Photo News: EMPOWERING TOMORROW’S LEADERS: ENGINEER AJISEGIRI LAUNCHES FOUNDATION, PRESENT AWARDS, SCHOLASHIPS TO OUTSTANDING STUDENTS

In a heartwarming and inspiring event that brought joy and hope to the people of Idanre local government, Engineer Benson Ajisegiri Foundation (EBAF) was officially launched, accompanied by the presentation of awards and scholarships to the best secondary school students and outstanding indigent university undergraduates who have shown exceptional promise in their academic pursuits.

The event, held on 21st September 2023, at Ghosen Trust Hotels and Suites, Idanre marked a significant step towards fostering education, empowerment, and a brighter future for the underserved youths in the community.

In his speech, Engr. Dr. Benson Ajisegiri, the chairman of Engr. Benson Ajisegiri Foundation (EBAF) and the author of “Public Service by Grace” has called for team work to quicken the development of Idanre land.

He noted that (EBAF) project was a dream he had nurtured since his Secondary School days when he would be able to fund the educational programmes of the less privileged ones in the society.

Mrs Tanwa Koya, member, (EBAF) board of trustees in her welcome address, said the Foundation, which is a Non governmental organization represents a collective commitment to make education accessible and equitable for all, regardless of economic barriers. She noted that the visionary initiative was born out of the desire to ensure that brilliant minds in the society are not hindered by financial constraints but are instead nurtured to reach their full potential.

One of the highlights of the foundation’s launch event was the presentation of awards to remarkable secondary school students and indigent university undergraduates. These students have not only displayed academic excellence but have also demonstrated resilience and determination as their achievements serve as a testament to the potential that lies within Idanre community.

The launch event also featured an inspiring lecture address by Professor Gbenga Oke-Samuel, the Dean of Faculty of Law, Adekunke Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in his lecture titled, “The Imperative of Supporting Children Education in Idanre Local Government Area” revealed that government had failed in their duties of providing adequate funding for procurement of educational tools and infrastructures for quality education. He noted that parents and students also have their own roles to play with a view to achieving the desired quality education system in the society. Professor Oke’s words resonated deeply with both the award recipients and the audience, reinforcing the idea that education is the key to breaking barriers and achieving greatness.

Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun in his review of record of achievements of Engr. Benson Ajisegiri called “A Man and His Community” x- rayed his achievements as a Director of Water Supply and Public Private Partnership in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources until his retirement on 24th of August, 2021. He described him as a patriotic Idanre indigene who see’s Idanre development as a priority.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Mr Ogunmakinju Thomas appreciated the donor for his kind gesture and prayed that God will continue to bless him.

Earlier, High Chief Christopher Akindolire, the Lisa of Idanre kingdom, who was the Chairman of the occasion was ably represented by his wife, Hon. Princess Aderonke Akindolire, lamented on the poor use of English as a means of communication by Idanre youths. He urged Engr. Benson Ajisegiri Foundation (EBAF) to include English Language as a priority in their activities as he expressed confidence in the Foundation.

Bright Akinuliola, Deacon Akinsuyi, Mr Tope Adesoji, Mr Fioye Adegunleye, Dr. Isaac Akinmoladun, Hon. Barrister Dejo Adeloye, Mr Felix Ajidagba, Chief Dele Akinnagbe, Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Elder and Prof. Mrs Adegboyegun, Prof. Ropo Akinfala among others.
