The remains of Madam Florence Modupe Akinyele, mother of Hon. Taye Akinyele, former Ondo State Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, were laid to rest recently.
Madam Akinyele passed away at 99 after a brief illness in June, 2024. Her body was transported from Jidex Funeral Homes in Akure in a motorcade of exotic cars to her residence on Commercial Road, Old Nepa, Odode Idanre, for a lying in state and wake service.
A church service was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Odode Idanre, where Ven. Blessing Aregbesola urged congregants to live exemplary lives for their children, praising the late matriarch as a devoted worshipper.
Hon. Taye Akinyele spoke about his mother’s passion for education, which inspired her children to pursue their studies. He highlighted her generosity and commitment to helping the less privileged.
Hon. Eric Oluwafisayo Akinyele, the firstborn, described his mother as an extraordinary woman whose spirit of generosity was mirrored in her children.
The reception at Olofin Anglican Grammar School was attended by numerous dignitaries, with the Nigerian Army Musical Band providing entertainment. Guests enjoyed an array of delicacies and drinks.

Madam Florence Modupe Akinyele is survived by her children: Hon. Eric Oluwafisayo Akinyele, Comrade Osemuyiwa Akinyele, Hon. Taye Olaiya Akinyele, Mrs. Idowu Akinlotan, and Mr. Folorunso Adeusi, along with their families.
