It was a moment of reflection and celebration on July 30, 2025, as the children of the late monarch, alongside sons and daughters of Idanre Kingdom, marked the first year remembrance of the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV (JP), OFR, the Owa and Paramount Ruler of Idanre land, who joined his ancestors on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The commemoration began at the historic Oke Idanre hilltop, where prayers and tributes were offered, before proceeding to the palace. The celebration concluded at the late monarch’s residence, opposite Exodus Filling Station, where guests were warmly received and entertained by his children.
Speaking at Oke Idanre, His Eminence, High Chief Alalabiaye Ojo Victor, the Osolo of Idanre Land, acknowledged the notable progress witnessed in the town since the monarch’s transition. He praised the unity among the children of the late king as a clear indication of divine presence and urged them to support whoever God chooses to ascend the throne.
The children of the late king expressed profound gratitude to God for the impactful and exemplary life their father lived, describing him as a true hero whose legacy continues to inspire. They prayed that God would bless Idanre with a worthy successor who would uphold and build upon their father’s achievements.
Prince Akinyotu Falade, the Olotu Omoba of Idanre Kingdom, noted that the one year anniversary also marked the final traditional burial rites for the late monarch, conducted in accordance with custom by the blacksmith guild.
In a similar tribute, Prince Adebayo Aroloye, a nephew of the late king, described him as gentle, easy going, and a custodian of justice, known for his fairness and wisdom in judgment.
In his remarks, Hon. Olujide Olurankinse fondly referred to himself as a “grandson” of the late monarch, recalling the deep love and care extended to him and his siblings by the king following the death of their own father, High Chief Olurankinse, the Logbosere of Idanre Land.
The event was filled with heartfelt tributes, traditional chants, prayers, and praises offered by the royal family, relatives, and members of the community in honour of the revered king.
The celebration concluded at the late king’s residence, where guests were treated to music, cultural performances, and a variety of local delicacies.
