OLUWATOFUNMI AKINMOLADUN LAUNCHES BOOK, BECOMES FIRST UNDERGRADUATE AUTHOR IN ELIZADE UNIVERSITY HISTORY

The much anticipated book “Lessons from My University Life”, authored by Miss Oluwatofunmi Akinmoladun, was officially launched on July 12, 2025, at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.

Miss Akinmoladun, a final year student in the Department of Allied Nursing, made history as the first undergraduate of Elizade University to write and launch a book. She is the daughter of renowned politician and businessman, Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun, and Mrs. Olasunkanmi Akinmoladun.

Reviewing the book, Professor Olugbenga Oke-Samuel noted that the author’s objective is clearly defined, to help students go beyond merely surviving university life and instead, thrive through it. He described the book as “more than a memoir”, and emphasized that “your academics is an avenue for the glory of God to be revealed.” He urged the audience to see the publication as a significant contribution to both personal and academic growth.

Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, founder of Elizade University, was ably represented by the University Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro. He praised Miss Akinmoladun as “a rare gem and a testament to the University’s mission of producing world class, innovative graduates.” He encouraged other students to emulate her trailblazing creativity.

In a similar vein, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Adeyemi, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Professor Omotola Dada, commended the author’s efforts and reaffirmed the University’s dedication to grooming globally competitive students.

Dr. Alice Ogundele, Head of the Department of Nursing Science, lauded the book as “not just a creative work, but a powerful symbol of ambition, thoughtfulness, and commitment.” She described Oluwatofunmi’s achievement as a reflection of the high academic and moral standards instilled by the department.

Dr. Anthony Omolola, President General of the Idanre Development Assembly, commended the leadership traits of the author’s father, Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun, stating that these qualities are visibly mirrored in his daughter. He donated ₦250,000 to support the book launch, with an additional ₦250,000 from the Idanre Development Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of the Akinmoladun family, (Dr.) Isaac Akinmoladun expressed joy at witnessing such an inspiring milestone in one of his children’s lives.

In her remarks, the author, Miss Oluwatofunmi Akinmoladun, expressed gratitude to God and everyone who contributed to her journey. She described the book as a testament to her personal growth and transformation.

Though unavoidably absent, the Chairman of the occasion, Prince Seyi Olumagba, donated ₦500,000 in support of the launch.

In his vote of thanks, Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun, the author’s father, extended heartfelt appreciation to Chief Michael Ade-Ojo and his wife for their continued support of student development, and to all who contributed to the success of the event.

The book launch was graced by a host of distinguished personalities from academia, politics, and the business community. Notable attendees included:
