St. Joseph Catholic School has emerged champions of the Logbosere Memorial Competition 2025 after defeating Methodist High School with an emphatic 3–0 win in the highly anticipated grand finale.
The thrilling final match, played on 4th December 2025 at the Technical Field in Idanre, attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters from both schools, all eager to cheer their teams to victory.
St. Joseph Catholic School scored two early goals in the first half, maintaining firm control despite several attempts by the Methodist team to break through and equalize. Their efforts, however, were unsuccessful as the first half ended 2–0 in favour of St. Joseph.
The second half resumed with renewed intensity from Methodist High School, who pushed forward in search of a comeback. However, St. Joseph Catholic School sealed the game with a decisive third goal, leaving spectators convinced that the “gods of football” were on their side. The referee eventually blew the final whistle, confirming St. Joseph’s dominant triumph.
Trophies and cash prizes were presented to the first, second, and third-place schools by Mr. Segun Adeoye, Mr. Henry Ogunyanmodi, and Mr. Akinmoladun Bamidele.
Speaking with Platinum Television correspondent, Mr. Segun Adeoye commended the sponsor, Hon. Olujide Olurankinse for sustaining the event over 11 years ago in remembrance of his late father. He expressed confidence in the competition as a means of getting youths in Idanre engaged productively.
Similarly, Mr. Henry Ogunyanmodi, Chairman, Idanre Football Council extended his appreciation to the sponsor for the yearly event which he noted has helped the young people in discovering their talents in terms of football.
Reacting, Master Adelani Ayomide, captain, St. Joseph football team expressed his happiness for lifting the trophy together with his team members.
However, Speaking about the sponsor, Hon. (Deacon) Mayokun Akinmoladun said Hon Olujide Olurankinse is a man of vision who is committed to promoting the legacy of his late father.
