“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” This timeless prayer found beautiful expression on Saturday, July 4, 2026, as Mrs. Modupe Adesote, fondly known as Layole, celebrated her 80th birthday in a grand, joyous, and memorable manner.
The day’s activities commenced with a thanksgiving service at the RCCG Beauty of God Parish, where family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness over the celebrant’s eight remarkable decades of life.
As an expression of profound gratitude for God’s goodness, Mrs. Adesote presented a handsome gift to the church, appreciating God for His unfailing grace, mercy, and Preservation. The thanksgiving service was marked by heartfelt worship, prayers, and messages celebrating a life richly blessed and devoted to service.
Following the church service, guests converged at Don Bosco Hall, Lagos, for a colourful reception. Elegantly decorated and graced by distinguished guests, the venue radiated warmth, joy, and celebration as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to honour the octogenarian.
One of the emotional highlights of the celebration was a special cultural rendition by members of the “Aigbe Dynasty”, who celebrated Mrs. Adesote in the Idanre dialect.
Another significant moment was the official launch of a book authored by the celebrant, alongside a biography chronicling her inspiring life journey, values, and accomplishments. The book launch was led by Chief Rotimi Williams, who served as the Chief Launcher and was ably represented by the Chairman of KayFams Estate, Lagos. The launch attracted generous support from guests who commended the initiative to preserve and share her remarkable story for future generations.
The celebration also featured touching tributes and heartfelt testimonies from family members, friends, and associates whose lives have been impacted by Mrs. Adesote. The session was led by Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye and Prof. Yemi Akinseye-George, SAN, both of whom paid glowing tributes to her exemplary character, integrity, resilience, and unwavering commitment to humanity. Her children also shared emotional testimonies, expressing gratitude for her love, sacrifices, wisdom, and enduring influence in their lives.
The atmosphere remained lively as the celebrant took to the dance floor with grace and excitement, joined by family, friends, and guests who celebrated the milestone with songs, laughter, and joyful dancing. It was a fitting tribute to a woman whose life has been a blessing to many.
Guests were treated to an array of delicious meals and refreshing drinks, ensuring everyone dined to their satisfaction. The celebration continued with the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake, followed by photo sessions that captured the memorable moments of the occasion.
